Recently I had the honour of attending the Air League Annual Reception in Westminster, where I was incredibly grateful to receive a Marshall of Cambridge Award. It was a really special evening and one I’ll remember for a long time.

Gratitude.

The reception brought together people from across the aviation community — pilots, engineers, volunteers, industry leaders and young people who have all been supported by the Air League in different ways. Walking into the room, you could really feel the shared passion everyone has for aviation and for helping the next generation find their path.

I received the Marshall of Cambridge Award. The Marshall of Cambridge Award is an honour given by The Air League to recognise individuals who have made a meaningful contribution to aviation or have shown outstanding commitment to inspiring, supporting, or engaging young people within the aviation community.

This meant a lot to me, especially because inspiring young people is something I genuinely care about. For me I find doing this something natural and what I love – so to receive an award is super humbling.

Canapes, drinks and chats!

The evening itself was also a great opportunity to reconnect with people I’ve met along the way. One of the things I’ve really come to appreciate through the Air League is the community it creates. Over time, the people you meet at events, volunteering opportunities and scholarships start to feel less like acquaintances and more like friends for life.

There’s something quite special about being surrounded by people who all share the same passion for aviation and for supporting each other’s journeys. Conversations flowed easily, stories were shared, and it was a great reminder of how supportive the aviation community can be.

I left the reception feeling very grateful — not just for the award, but for the opportunities the Air League continues to create for young people like me. Being able to play even a small part in inspiring the next generation is something I’m really proud of, and I’m excited to keep doing more of it in the future.

A big thank you to the Air League and everyone involved for such a memorable evening.
